‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Trailer: The Webhead and Iron Man Build A Better Superhero
  |  @   |

In the age of the superhero shared universe, Spider-Man (Tom Holland) is by far the youngest of them all. He’s just a kid in high school who is still learning the ropes, and if he wants to become someone like Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), he’s going to have to learn how to play by the rules.

That’s what we see in the latest trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming. The trailer actually premiered during CinemaCon 2017 last night, but Sony is just releasing it to the public now. So why don’t you check it out below.

While the character made his first appearance in Captain America: Civil War, it really only scratched the surface when it came to capturing the spirit of the Peter Parker. So this trailer reveals that this is going to be the Spider-Man we all know and love. A young kid at heart with more quips and banter material than you can web sling at. Set in New York and Washington D.C., Parker must find a way to balance his high school life with his superhero life.

Despite what it may look like in the trailer, Iron Man taking away the Spider suit isn’t nefarious. In fact, it is something of a teachable moment for the webslinger who believes he is nothing without the suit. Meanwhile, Adrain Toomes (Michael Keaton) has turned his clandestine salvaging business that cleans up after superhero messes into an arms dealership. He takes all the alien parts that he has and turns them into high-tech weaponry after Stark steps in and takes over. So it makes sense that Toomes is being described as the “Dark Tony Stark.”

It’s really hard not to get excited for a Spider-Man film that looks like it finally got it right. There’s plenty of webslinging and we only get a sample of Spidey’s innocent snarkiness. The appearance of both Iron Man and Captain America (Chris Evans) – yup, he’s in it too – should help you forget about The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The film also stars Zendaya, Tony Revolori, Logan Marshall-Green, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Donald Glover, Bokeem Woodbine, Tyne Daly, and more.

Written by Jon Watts, Jonathan M. Goldstein, John Francis Daley, Christopher Ford, Chris McKenna, and Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: Homecoming opens in theaters on July 7, 2017.
