If you’re now weeping and wondering why Netflix would do such a horrible thing (The Princess Bride AND Firefly on the same day? That’s just evil. A truly terrible April Fools’ Day it shall be.) it’s because Netflix has made the extremely unpopular decision to end its five-year run with Fox. According to this, some of Fox’s shows might be remaining, at least for now. But still, a massive amount of seasons are being yanked. These are likely now heading to Hulu, which Fox is a part owner of along with Disney, Comcast, and Time Warner.

  1. ALL seasons of Firefly?

  2. You can get the entire run of Firefly on Blu-ray. If you can find it. I got it cheap on Amazon a few years back for like $20 bucks during a sale.

  3. I know! I hadn’t even made it all that far into Season 2.

  4. I kept telling myself I was going to watch, but couldn’t get involved because they wrote out Jayne and brought in his Cousin Oliver as a replacement.

    Comment by Frogmouth — March 30, 2017 @ 2:41 pm

  5. Oliver was played by Jaleel White, wasn’t he?

  6. That’s really not the point.

  7. No, Netflix did not choose to end their contract with Fox. In order to renew Fox asked for an outrageous amount of money and therefore they didn’t have another choice. Lets stop putting the blame on Netflix and instead put it where it belongs: the greedy companies. This is the same as any other time they lose a contract; it always boils down to the people that own the rights want a ridiculous sum of money. Nevermind that Netflix is the better streaming service. Nevermind that Netflix is how most people get into a lot of currently running shows or end up watching old shows then buying the DVDs. So this loss is on Fox not on Netflix. First they canceled Firefly, now they’ve taken Buffy off Netflix only a short time after the 20th anniversary. And they wonder why people dislike them. . .

  8. I’m sorry. Just trying to help with alternative solutions other than whining about it.
