HBO Wants Pastry-Themed ‘True Blood’ Spinoff ‘Sookie’s Cookies’
  |  @   |

HBO’s True Blood series was a phenomenal hit by any measurement. Based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries series of novels by Charlaine Harris, they follow the adventures of Sookie Stackhouse, a telepath in Louisiana who possesses an extraordinary lack of self-preservation. Constantly in danger, she aligns herself with and against supernatural creatures like vampires and werewolves, all the while seeking to find her place in the world. Sookie, played by Anna Paquin in all seven seasons, finally seems to find herself living a normal life after the end of the final season. But fans have continued to clamor for more. Will HBO ever deliver?

Reports indicate that the network is developing a new family friendly spin-off series called Sookie’s Cookies, which will focus on the aspect of True Blood that fans loved the most — Sookie’s career.

Sookie’s Cookies, the actual real true name of the proposed show, would take place two years after the ending of True Blood, with Sookie settled into her life as a wife and mother. But remember, Sookie’s career has always been the most important part of her life — it defined her even! So, it’s not surprising that after two years at home she’d be looking to go back to work.

Having been a waitress for most of her working life, she decides to pursue another facet of the food business and open her own pastry shop in Bon Temps, Louisiana called “Sookie’s Cookies and Such.” Her signature creation is a soft puff cookie that spurts out “blood” (jam) when you bite into it. But that’s about all the “blood” we’ll reportedly see on this series, since this show. The bakery is set to be the hangout for friendly preternatural creatures in the area who come there seeking Sookie’s advice on love, since she was so lucky in that area of her life too.

Who’s excited to see Sookie make cookies and give love-life advice? HBO is reportedly still mulling this one over, but we think they should go for it. It’s sure to be a hit, much like Highlander II: The Quickening.
