Honest Trailers Presents ‘Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift’
  |  @   |

With Fate of the Furious quickly approaching, and all levels of cinematic common sense going out the window, the gang at Screen Junkies turn to the unlikely blockbuster cars and criminals series for their Honest Trailers one more time. This time, we go back to 2006 as Justin Lin was given the keys (haha) to the F&F franchise, and decided to make a movie without all the actors that made it popular, and change the scenery by a few thousand miles.

Check out the Honest Trailer below.

Narrator Jon Bailey immediately helps me remember things as; (confession time), I never saw this or any of the other movies in the series after Part 2. Yeah, sorry… power to you, I know I’m in the minority. “Journey back to the pre-Rock era” with the film that ignores all the cool characters and has a bizarre play in the expanded timeline. Wait, chronologically, this comes before Furious 7?!?! I’m going to have to get a full breakdown on this series at work tomorrow. Looking at you Angela.

After viewing the “cars and butts” of LA and Miami, it’s time for the cars and butts of Tokyo where we focus on the most realistic street racing in the whole series, based on an actual Japanese craze. Bailey says what we’re all thinking; just get us to the submarine chase in F8 already please. So gear up (haha) to meet a new cast of actors… are we calling them actors? Don’t worry, they’re mostly gone after this movie anyway. Only Sung Kang’s Han has a repeating role. Even main character Sean (Lucas Black) didn’t show back up until Furious 7, 9-years later. Maybe it was that deep southern drawl that kept him away.

Seriously, it is unbelievable that this franchise survived this movie. Consider that this was essentially a theatrical direct to DVD movie, with a shitty cast that failed to make back it’s budget… and then think that Fast and Furious (Part 4) grossed $155 million nearly doubling its budget, and the franchise has now grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide and have two more planned sequels for 2019 and 2021. Wow… just wow.

Starring: Floor It Gump, Ya-Cruise-A, and *Unintelligible Grunting Noises*… New Title – Car Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Shift… okay, that’s one of the best titles they’ve ever had! Fate of the Furious aka Fast 8 is coming out in theaters everywhere Friday, April 14th.

Screen Junkies currently have over 6 million YouTube subscribers and release new Honest Trailers every Tuesday.
