Last week on The Flash, Barry (Grant Gustin) went to the year 2024 to find out who Savitar really is. Future Cisco (Carlos Valdes) was super happy to see him. He wanted to get the gang back together, because after Iris (Candice Patton) died, Barry went in a downward spiral. And he never did find out Savitar’s identity. Barry went to return to 2017, but got stuck and helped Cisco reunite everyone. They defeated 2 metas, and Future Barry gave Barry some tech that may help save Iris.

Spoilers below.

The Flash 3.20 “I Know Who You Are” review: It begins with Barry telling Savitar, “I know who you are.” Finally!

Barry gives the team the rundown on Tracy Brand (Anne Dudek). They start looking and find the grad student, who is about to give up her Nobel Prize future for a fast food job. Cisco, HR (Tom Cavanagh), and Barry save her from a fire, and then from Killer Frost when she walks in.

Joe and Cecile (Danielle Nicolet) are adorable and she declares her love. Uh-oh. He takes a call – awkward! Barry gives Joe the dad talk about feelings and honesty in a nice role reversal.

Savitar says Frost is soft with some Caitlin Snow in there. I can see it too.

HR follows Tracy and Cisco pulls a Cyrano on her through HR (without Cisco liking her too). HR has a giant crush which is too cute. Julian (Tom Felton) tries to talk to Cisco, but he’s snappy. Killer Frost shows up again.

They reveal all to Tracy. “You’re basically telling me I’m Sarah Conner.” Yes! She freaks and leaves. HR follows her and thinks he has it handled, but she disappears again. He finds her and gives her the peppiest pep talk.

Julian needs to know why Cisco keeps “freezing” up. He’s afraid he’s going to kill her. “I’d rather it be me than her.”

Cecile comes over for a talk. But Joe breaks up with her. Joe, the most sensible of them all, did this fool thing. She leaves but soon returns as Caitlin’s hostage. Killer Frost wants an exchange. This time, Cisco unleashes his power and knocks her out, but Savitar grabs her before they can secure her.

Tracy gets to work, dazzling HR with her science. He confesses he lied about the science-y talk.

Joe reveals to Cecile why he pushed her away. “Clearly, I was wrong.” He confesses his love. Later, when recounting their reconciliation to his kids, Barry realizes who Savitar is.

It’s him. Savitar unveils himself as an evil scarred loveless Barry. How the hell is he going to fight that?

Finally we have an answer, an answer that brings more questions, but still… one of the big questions plaguing us this season. And The Flash was successful in upping the Big Bad. After all, there is no greater enemy to ourselves than ourselves.

The episode was really good. Cisco’s inner conflict, with Julian as the mechanism of reveal, was real and painful to watch. He needed to build to be able to knock her out and it was very believable. I do wish he had been successful in bringing her back to S.T.A.R. Labs.

I can hardly wait until next week to see what they do to deal with this new awful knowledge.

The Flash airs Tuesday nights at 8:00pm ET on The CW.
