Sony Releases ‘Close Encounters Of The Third Kind’ Teaser
  |  @   |

Earlier this week, on World UFO Day, Sony Pictures released a mysterious tease called “This Means Something.” It also came with a website URL, which offered the chance to “sign up to receive updates on UFO sightings.” The tease was related to the 1977 Steven Spielberg classic Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and some speculated that it could be some kind of sequel or reboot.

As it turns out, it was actually for a re-release of the original Close Encounters in celebration of the film’s 40th anniversary. You can check out the tease below.

The re-release was confirmed by Variety, who says that Close Encounters of the Third Kind will return to theaters on September 1st for a one-week run.

The above mentioned UFO sighting updates website, which can be found below, is actually a place for fans to connect with the campaign.
