‘Fast and Furious 9’ May Actually Go To Outer Space
  |  @   |

The Fast and Furious franchise isn’t what it used to be. While that may not be so bad, it is always looking for new and inventive ways to outdo themselves. Except, they may be running out of ideas here on earth. There has been speculation that Dom and his crew could head to space. How they achieve that is yet to be seen. But they may need to find a new director considering F. Gary Gray may not return to helm a Fast and Furious film for the second time. Check out what he has to say and the possibility of heading out into space, below.

With The Fate of the Furious hitting Blu-ray tomorrow, Gray spoke to Screenrant about the chances of him returning. Of course, he kept things ambiguous by throwing in some distractions:

“Right now I’m starting a company, so that is my focus for the last couple of months. I had a chance to take a week off, a vacation, and then jump into some prior stuff that I had to take care of. And in the midst of starting a company, so that’s what I’ve been dealing with.”

Keeping things vague has always been a part of the game for any filmmaker attached to a franchise as big as the Fast and Furious. So it’s not entirely surprising that he isn’t giving us a hint as to if he is coming back or not. But that isn’t stopping him from teasing us with how Dom will jump the shark, by going to space:

“Outer space? Listen, I wouldn’t rule anything with this franchise. When I read submarine I’m like “˜OK, anything’s possible.’ [Laughs] You never know. I haven’t read ‘Dom on Mars’ yet but again, you just never know.”

Okay, so that isn’t exactly a definite answer. But these films have always found a way to outdo themselves time and time again. Considering that they’ve already done some globetrotting, and hit the skies and underwater in Fate of the Furious, it’s about time that the franchise headed to outer space. I mean, how much fun would it be to see Dom literally defy gravity (or the lack thereof).
