‘The Lion King’: John Oliver To Voice Zazu In Disney’s Live-Action Remake
  |  @   |

Last Week Tonight host John Oliver has joined the cast of The Lion King, Disney’s live-action remake of their animated classic of the same name.

Oliver will voice the role of Zazu, the uptight bird who acts as an advisor to Mufasa. The character was voiced by Rowan Atkinson, better known by some as Mr. Bean, in the original animated movie.

The cast Oliver is joining already includes Donald Glover voicing Simba and James Earl Jones returning to once again voice Mufasa, as well as Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner providing a little comic relief as Timon and Pumbaa.

The Lion King is one of the next in what’s become quite the successful endeavor for Disney. Proven once again in a big way with their most recent live-action remake, Beauty and the Beast, a destroyer of records and the biggest of their remakes so far.

The movie is set to be directed by Jon Favreau, who has already found great success in Disney’s mission to remake their animated classics. He delivered their live-action take on The Jungle Book, which nearly brought in $1 billion worldwide when it was released last year.

  1. Good Casting choices I’ll say, one’s we wouldn’t see coming. By the end of this year we should know the whole cast, more Cast Members should be confirmed at D23 and San Diego Comicon this Month. Here be what’s left of the Major Cast: Rafiki, Sarabi, Nala, Scar, the 3 Hyenas, and the Cub Versions of Simba and Nala.

  2. Funfact, both John Oliver (Zazu) and Billy Eichner (Timon) have been in Sony Animation Films, and both Voice Actors of Zazu from the 1994 and 2019 film have been in Live Action Films based on Hanna-Barbera Cartoons.

  3. Yeah, Various British Actors have been hoped to voice Scar, some of them being: Ben Kingsley, Ralph Fiennes, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Gary Oldman. Final Result could be someone that not anyone could think of, but I say good luck with people’s predictions.

As for the voice of Rafiki, I think Peter Dinklage should take on the role, someone who could do the accent well anyway. I think this Live Action Lion King Reboot will use atleast 1 actor who’d been in a previous film of Favreau’s.

  4. Ed may only laugh, but it’s not meant to sound realistic to what you’d expect from a Hyena. I think he should still have a voice, and that they should hire someone known for laughter.

  5. Scar’s voice actor now has been confirmed to be Hugh Jackman, voice acting in a film for the 4th time. Someone we didn’t see coming. My the surprises.

  6. As for the 2 Hyenas that don’t just laugh, I can only guess a voice for Banzai, someone that a lot of people had been thinking: Steve Buscemi.
