Sisters of Sorrow #1 is possibly one of the most violent comics I have read in months. So obviously I loved it from start to finish, of course. You know that saying that starts with “Hell hath no fury…” and has been around longer than we can remember? Yeah, it’s not wrong and this comic is a perfect reflection of that same righteous anger.

A group of women find themselves under assault right from the start in this premiere issue. When violence turns deadly, so do they. Soon, training ensues and that in turn leads to conversations of vengeance. When the authorities will not help, who must they turn to for justice? Why turn to anyone? Instead, these ladies find themselves uniquely positioned to do something about it.

The story is only beginning to unfold in this first issue as one of our anti-heroes creates a plan that stems more from revenge than justice. Unconcerned with nuances, the plan is laid, the trap is sprung, and the game has begun.

Trust me, you do not want to mess with this band of sisters, as people are about to find out!

Kurt Sutter (Sons of Anarchy, Mayans MC) brings this all-new original tale of revenge and recovery to comics with novelist Courtney Alameda (Shutter) and breakthrough artist Hyeonjin Kim. By day, Dominique, Greta, Misha, and Sarah run a nonprofit women’s shelter. At night, they each don a nun’s habit and move through Los Angeles hunting down violent abusers who have escaped justice. Their increasingly public vigilantism has earned them the nickname Sisters of Sorrow, and has drawn the ire of L.A.’s notorious anti-crime task force.
