‘Bright’ Trailer: Will Smith Protects LA From Fairies, Orcs, and Elves
  |  @   |

David Ayer knows how to tell a story about cops in Los Angeles. In fact, most of his films are about cops in the City Of Angels. So it comes as no surprise that Bright, his follow-up to Suicide Squad, features Will Smith as an L.A.P.D. officer. But what separates this particular film from the rest is that Smith’s character is partnered up with an orc named Jakoby (played by Joel Edgerton). That’s because Bright takes place in a world where humans co-exist with fairies, orcs, and other monstrous creatures that usually go bump in the night.

Though the two don’t get along at first, they are forced to put their differences aside when a magic wand surfaces, and everyone is out to get it so they can have their wishes granted. Check out the trailer here below.

In the trailer, we see that humans don’t get along with monsters – a bit of a reflection on our current society. So in an effort to make the L.A.P.D. more diverse, they bring in an orc as their diversity hire. At first, it may sound strange, but that goes up more than a few notches when the magic wand is introduced. So in a world of fairies and other mystical creatures, the one thing that everyone is looking for is a magic wand.

So it may sound like a load of crazy, but Netflix paid a pretty penny to get their hands on Max Landis’ (Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency) script.

The film also stars Noomi Rapace, Edgar Ramírez, Ike Barinholtz, and Brad William Henke.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

Set in an alternate present-day where humans, orcs, elves, and fairies have been co-existing since the beginning of time. Bright is genre-bending action movie that follows two cops from very different backgrounds. Ward (Will Smith) and Jakoby (Joel Edgerton), embark on a routine patrol night and encounter a darkness that will ultimately alter the future and their world as they know it.

Netflix will make Bright available for streaming starting December 22, 2017. Watch the first teaser here if you missed it.
