What do you get when cross the girl next door with a little bit of risqué photography? Why Bettie Page, of course! Add in a tad of espionage and you get Bettie Page #1! This comic book series from Dynamite Entertainment is based quite loosely on one of the greatest pin-up models of all time. And while she is renowned for her fearless attitude on and off camera, this explores her “secret diaries” that have been kept from the public until now.

A quiet little desk job working alongside a variety of scientists and geniuses should be an easy gig for our young model. She has already determined she can still make time to audition for various feature films that are casting in her area. But what happened to her predecessor? The clues do not add up. So when she starts poking her nose into things, someone is bound to try to stop her! Luckily these things have a way of working out. She can avoid the feds in high heels so this should be a piece of cake!

Chock full of vintage clothes and silly sayings, this first issue is sure to please any Bettie Page fan. Light on substance but long on action, it sets up the next issue with just the right amount of pizzazz. I will be watching for the next issue, but then I have been a fan for decades! It was certainly worth the read!

There is even a Joseph Michael Linsner (Dawn) cover; he has long been one of my favorite comic artists.

She’s more modest than Ms. Blaise, but peels more than Ms. Emma. She out-vamps Vampirella, but she’s sweeter than Honey West. She put the mod in model, and the bangs in bang-bang. Now the world can know the truth: her classified adventures back in 1951 Hollywood have been declassified. Dynamite, David Avallone and Colton Worley are proud to present The Secret Diary of Bettie Page, in handy comic book form.
