‘To Hell and Back’: Trailer For Documentary About Jason Voorhees Actor Kane Hodder Released
  |  @   |

Every fan of the Friday the 13th slasher series has their favorite Jason Voorhees. For many, myself included, it’s always been Kane Hodder.

A documentary about the man himself is on the way titled To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story. The doc tells Kane’s story, beginning with his difficult earlier years and leading to his landing the iconic role of Jason and other Hollywood roles. It also features interviews with Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street), who faced off with Voorhees as Freddy Krueger in 2003’s Freddy vs. Jason (though not with Hodder, sadly); Bruce Campbell, who many fans wanted to see join the Freddy and Jason fight in a sequel as Ash from the Evil Dead movies (a battle that did happen in comic book form); Adam Green, who directed Hodder as Victor Crowley in the Hatchet movies after he moved on from the Friday the 13th movies; and more.

SYNOPSIS:

To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story is the harrowing story of a stuntman overcoming a dehumanizing childhood filled with torment and bullying in Sparks, Nevada. After surviving a near-death burn accident, he worked his way up through Hollywood, leading to his ultimate rise as Jason Voorhees in the Friday the 13th series and making countless moviegoers forever terrified of hockey masks and summer camp. Featuring interviews with cinema legends, including Bruce Campbell (Ash vs. Evil Dead), Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger), and Cassandra Peterson (Elvira: Mistress of the Dark), To Hell and Back peels off the mask of Kane Hodder, cinema’s most prolific killer, in a gut-wrenching, but inspiring, documentary.

After decades of watching Kane Hodder on screen, get ready to meet the man behind the mask in To Hell and Back – an uniquely human story about one of cinema’s most vicious monsters.

As a fan and someone who’s among the countless to have been choked by Mr. Hodder for a photo, I very much look forward to learning more about his story.

To Hell and Back: The Story of Kane Hodder is set to make its world premiere at FrightFest in London on August 26th.
