Casey Affleck Trolls The Internet, Says Ben Affleck Won’t Be Batman After ‘Justice League’
  |  @   |

Tell me if you haven’t heard this one before. Ben Affleck says he is dissatisfied with being the Batman in the DCEU and then backtracks on those comments. Then rumors of Affleck’s unhappiness appear once more only for him to “squash” them at SDCC.

This story has been reported on so many times it’s really hard to keep up. So, let’s just mark this as the third time that we’ve been hearing Affleck wants out. However, it’s not Ben who is saying it, but his brother, Casey Affleck. Get more on this story below.

Casey Affleck was on WEEI Sports Radio to talk about his brother’s involvement in the DCEU and the uncertain future he has within it. Given the back-and-forth that has been going on, it’s hard to believe anything until we see Ben walk away from the DCEU. But here is what Casey had to say:

[Joking around] I thought he was an okay Batman. No, I thought he was great. He was great. He’s a hero, so he had something to channel and work with there. But he’s not going to do that movie, I don’t think. Sorry to say.

Now let’s face it, Casey was on a sports radio program speaking in jest about his brother being unhappy with playing the Batman. So while we shouldn’t believe what he has to say, there is evidence that suggests there may be some truth to it. Rumors of Ben wanting out started this year. Then there was the actor walking away from his duties as a director of The Batman. Recently, the actor had to assure everyone that he was committed to the part when another unconfirmed rumor of him no longer wishing to play Batman appeared.

Sure Ben may say he sees himself playing the title character until the end of his contract, but when you read those reports and follow up on the news, the idea that he may quit wouldn’t be at all surprising. We’ll just have to wait and see.

So, at least for now, Ben Affleck will play the Batman. But if Warner Bros. is looking for a way to give the actor a way out, well, they could use the Flashpoint as the film to do it. Although that’s just an idea.

Justice League opens in theaters on November 17, 2017. The Batman has no release date, but is expected to start production sometime next year.
