Final ‘The Defenders’ Trailer: The Only Way Out Of Here Is Together
  |  @   |

We are just hours away from the premiere of Netflix’s The Defenders, the Marvel superhero ensemble of the streaming service. In the four years since the collaboration started, we’ve seen Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) get their own series.

And while we’ve known that this moment was going to arrive, the evil force that will bring our heroes together still remains a mystery. But one new final trailer sheds some light on Alexandra’s (Sigourney Weaver) goals and what the Defenders must do to help protect the city. Check out the full trailer below.

In terms of footage, it is pretty much more of the same: the hallway fight scene, our heroes confronting Alexandra in a conference room, heroes discussing their next plan at the Chinese restaurant, and a few confrontations within the team. But at the same time, we get some sort of idea of what Alexandra’s plans are. Of course, they are given in vague and contrary details. She wants to bring light into the darkness and to bring life where there is death. To which Luke Cage counters with “For all your talk of life, you sure bring a lot of death.” It’s the whole she may say she has good intentions but they are really evil. What is clear is that Alexandra will be using a resurrected Elektra (Elodie Yung) to achieve those nefarious goals.

Yeah, it may be a little bit cheesy, but since when was that a huge problem. Of course, Daredevil has lost his purpose since losing his friends and the love of his life. Jessica Jones isn’t exactly what you would call a team player. Luke Cage is looking for some sense of redemption. And the Iron Fist is still searching for his identity. Then there is infighting within the group as egos clash. But it appears that Stick (Scott Glenn), Matt’s old teacher, will be the one to bring them all together to defend as one united front. Whether or not he is successful remains to be seen. But it won’t be easy, that’s for sure.

Jessica Henwick and Simone Missick also star.

All eight episodes of The Defenders will premiere exclusively on Netflix on August 18, 2017.
