Earlier this year we found out that Hulu had ordered a pilot episode for a potential series based on the Joe Hill and Gabriel RodrÃguez comic book series Locke & Key.
Now comes the first casting announcement for the series. It’s being reported that Frances O’Connor has signed onto the project. She’ll be taking on the role of Nina Locke.
If you’re unfamiliar with Locke & Key here’s a description from Amazon:
Locke & Key tells of Keyhouse, an unlikely New England mansion, with fantastic doors that transform all who dare to walk through them”¦ and home to a hate-filled and relentless creature that will not rest until it forces open the most terrible door of them all!
When Nina Locke brings her children back to their father’s childhood home following his gruesome murder, everyone is too absorbed by their grief to notice that all in Keyhouse is not what it seems. Everyone except youngest son Bode, who quickly finds a new friend living in an empty well and a new toy that offers hours of spirited entertainment. But again, all in Keyhouse is not what it seems, and soon horrors old and new, real and imagined, will come ravening after the Lockes and the secrets their family holds.
O’Connor is known for her roles in A.I. Artificial Intelligence, The Missing, and The Conjuring 2.
When the pilot episode was ordered, Doctor Strange and Sinister director Scott Derrickson was set to direct. Since then, unfortunately, he had to step away because he’s also directing the pilot episode for the Snowpiercer TV series for TNT.
The pilot will now be directed by Andy Muschietti, who directed Mama and the upcoming new adaptation of Stephen King’s IT.
LOST and The Strain showrunner Carlton Cuse is set to be the showrunner for Locke & Key if it makes it to series.
