New ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ TV Spot Introduces The Revengers
  |  @   |

To celebrate the start of the NFL season, Marvel teased fans everywhere with a clash of titans of their own — the one between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), which we will see in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok. But to avoid spoilers, we won’t know who the victor is until the film comes out. Though, a few trailers see Thor lying to Bruce Banner, who seems a little confused that he could lose to someone like Thor. But one thing is for sure, we are going to see a brand new team-up featuring some of the MCU’s best fantastical heroes. Now if they could just figure out a name.

Check out the latest TV spot for Thor: Ragnarok here below.

The TV spot, which aired last night during the NFL’s regular season opener on Thursday Night Football, comes hot on the heels of the release of character posters that we saw yesterday. And just like those posters, the TV spot is colorful and vibrant, full of energy that we saw in the first Thor film. The Sakaar’s arena is much larger than I thought it would be, and it comes with a holographic hype machine to get the crowd riled up. We get to see a bit more of the clash between Hela (Cate Blanchette) and Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson). It seems that the two have been at it for eons. And we get to see just how powerful Surtar is. As if Hulk hurling himself into Surtur’s mouth like someone tossing a grape to eat it wasn’t already a striking visual.

But as we get closer to the film’s release, it is starting to look like the cosmic journey Thor goes on explains why he wasn’t able to tip the balance in Captain America: Civil War. Hulk’s reputation on Sakaar obviously tells us he that he was otherwise unavailable to give an assist to either of the teams. But as the two settle their differences, it will be up to them to set up a team to defeat Hela.

Again, the film is really embracing the out of the world vibe. There’s so much color and depth, and there is plenty of humor to go around. Note the “Revengers” joke. So it’s great that director Taika Waititi (What We Do In Shadows) took Thor: Ragnarok in its humorous direction. After the mediocre Thor: The Dark World, the franchise needed something new and fresh. And by the looks of things, Waititi gave it just that.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

In Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Ragnarok,” Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok””the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization””at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger””the Incredible Hulk!

Thor: Ragnarok also stars Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, and Karl Urban. It opens in theaters on November 3, 2017.
