Judy Greer Joins New ‘Halloween’ Movie As Karen Strode
  |  @   |

Reboots are just a thing we are accustomed to seeing in headlines nowadays. But some reboots catch our interest, especially when it falls into the right hands. Such as Blumhouse’s new take on Halloween.

The film will bring back Jamie Lee Curtis who made a name for herself as the ultimate scream queen in John Carpenter‘s original 1978 classic slasher film. When announcing her return, Curtis said “Same porch. Same clothes. Same issues. 40 years later. Headed back to Haddonfield one last time for Halloween.” So while it is something of a reboot of the franchise, the movie is also a sequel and canon. And to make sure it is canon, the film will be adding one interesting connection.

New reports confirm that Judy Greer will be joining the cast as Karen Strode, Laurie Strode’s daughter. More on the story below.

Deadline says Greer is still in negotiations to join the cast, but usually when it reaches this point, it is almost a done deal. The film will be directed by David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express) and written by Danny McBride (Vice Principals) and Green.

For those who may not know, Laurie Strode would later appear in Halloween II, Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, and Halloween: Resurrection. But this wouldn’t be the first time that Strode’s children have appeared in a film. Jamie Lloyd would appear in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, and Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. However, it appears that Green’s take will ignore all the other sequels, and move forward with Karen Strode, who is beginning to look like she’s being set up as the new scream queen for the Halloween franchise.

The critically underused Greer will also be appearing in Clint Eastwood’s The 15:17 to Paris, the comedy Pottersville’s with Christina Hendricks, Jim Loach’s comedy-drama Measure of a Man, co-starring with Cate Blanchette in Where’d You Go, Bernadette, and reprising her motherly role in Ant-Man and The Wasp.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

Blumhouse’s Halloween will open in theaters on October 19, 2018.
