Hulu has released a teaser trailer for their upcoming original series Castle Rock, which is set in the Stephen King multiverse and executive produced by J.J. Abrams.
Watch the teaser, which premiered this weekend at New York Comic-Con, here below.
The series is described as a psychological-horror set in woodlands of Maine that will reimagine elements from the world of King’s novels and tie them together. Fans of the author will recognize the name Castle Rock, as it is the fictional Maine town where many of King’s stories have taken place, including It and Cujo.
For some of the cast, this is a return to the world of Stephen King. SkarsgÃ¥rd starred in this year’s big-screen adaptation of It as Pennywise the Clown, but this time around, we’ll get to see his real face without all the terrifying make-up, while Spacek made a splash as the title character of the 1976 adaptation of Carrie.
SYNOPSIS: A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. The fictional Maine town of Castle Rock has figured prominently in King’s literary career: Cujo, The Dark Half, IT and Needful Things, as well as novella The Body and numerous short stories such as Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption are either set there or contain references to Castle Rock. Castle Rock is an original suspense/thriller “” a first-of-its-kind reimagining that explores the themes and worlds uniting the entire King canon, while brushing up against some of his most iconic and beloved stories.
Castle Rock will launch on Hulu in 2018.
