Warning! Spoilers below tonight’s episode of Gotham!

Last time on Gotham, Jonathan Crane (Charlie Tahan) went on a rampage in the asylum, literally spraying fear into people. Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) was on his own as even Bullock (Donal Logue) stayed behind. Jim did overcome his fear. Barbara (Erin Richards) revealed her non-death to Tabitha and Selina (Jessica Lucas, Camren Bicondova), and a plan to profit off of Penguin’s (Robin Lord Taylor) new game, the game of issuing crime licenses. Bruce (David Mazouz) was arrested and almost shot, to Alfred’s (Sean Pertwee) dismay. Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk) made him a batsuit. Ivy (Maggie Geha) drank poison after being rebuffed by Barbara.

Spoilers below.

Gotham 4.3 “A Dark Knight: They Who Hide Behind Masks” review: The episode opens in the long ago. The soon-to-be Ra’s al Ghul is revived in the Lazarus Pit.

Bruce is scoping out the night, and realizes a thief is walking into a trap. Against Alfred’s wishes he goes after her – the “her” is Selina, although he doesn’t know it yet. Bruce spooks the other thieves and Selina is pissed. Barbara is disappointed in Selina and tells her to mop the floors. Selina walks out.

Jim goes to Miami to get help from Falcone (John Doman), locking eyes with a beautiful woman when he arrives. She’s Falcone’s daughter, Sofia (Crystal Reed). Falcone can’t go because he’s dying. Sofia meets runs into him later and they spend time together.

Jim: “I can’t remember the last time I just stood still.” They kiss. Oh, Jim. You are way smarter than that. Plus… you and the good gone bad girls.

Penguin goes to check on his shipment. While he’s gone, someone comes in and melts Ed (Cory Michael Smith). Penguin screams appropriately, sending Zsasz (Anthony Carrigan) to find him. Ed awakens to an obsessed stalker fan – Myrtle Jenkins (Ilana Becker). She fills him in on the last 5 months, and plans to restore him to glory. “With me as your sidekick of course. Doesn’t that sound wonderful, my love?” She is trying to cure him with acupuncture, but something is wrong with his brain. He won’t believe it though. She gives him more riddles that he can’t answer and he knocks her out with the children’s book. Penguin later finds her and has Zsasz kill her. Gotham does not usually drag stuff out, but

Bruce is on a ship faking an accent. What is he up to? He is caught, but Alfred saves him. This really is the best version of Alfred ever. They realize that Ra’s al Ghul is thousands of years old. Alfred tells Bruce to start acting like a “billionaire brat.” He plays it beautifully at the auction. He wants the knife that Ra’s al Ghul wants, pissing off Barbara by winning, and Penguin gives him warning. Selina comes for it, and Bruce rejects her request for a favor. Now I know what David Mazouz was referring to in < ahref="https://www.geeksofdoom.com/2017/09/18/hvff-2017-interview-david-mazouz-bruce-wayne-gotham" target="_blank">his interview.

Sofia shows up to help Gordon, even if he doesn’t want it. “You came looking for a gangster and that’s exactly what you found.”

Ra’s comes and Barbara fights him. She kicks ass. He is the one who resurrected her. He’s pleased that Bruce has it.

Looks like Jim has 2 fronts to wage war with – one with Penguin which is same old, same old, and one with Ra’s al Ghul which will bring him back into Barbara’s realm. I like the new love interest. Gordon is a handsome man, but his ladies keep getting better and better in terms of beauty, a feat that seemed near impossible given the considerable beauty of each. We need more Zsasz every week. He is being wasted with these tiny moments.

Love the Alfred/Bruce team. They are perfect together.

Gotham airs Thursday nights at 8:00pm ET on FOX.
