‘The Punisher’ Trailer and Release Date Revealed
  |  @   |

The Punisher has been riding on the waves of high anticipation since his character debut in season 2 of Daredevil. But much, if not all, of that excitement died out in the wake of the Las Vegas shootings.

Marvel Television respectfully pulled their NYCC panel, which was rumored to unveil the release date. At the time, some believed that the series would be released this month. But a new trailer confirms that The Punisher can be streamed next month. Check out the full trailer below.

Playing against Metallica’s “One,” this new trailer gives us a more detailed look at the title character (played by Jon Bernthal), his motivation, and the bloody journey he will take to get vengeance for the loss of his family, after they are killed by a shadowy government organization.

In the trailer, we see that Frank Castle was a military man working for black-ops under leadership who sought to bend the rules in order to complete the objective. This did not sit well with Frank, who was essentially their hitman. The trailer quickly takes us to the present day, where we see Frank live a happy life with his wife and child, who are gunned downed by the same corrupt group he used to work for.

With nothing to live for, Frank goes on the war path to find the person who ordered the hit. But he will soon discover that the injustices affect more than just his family. It’s pretty much a plot you would expect to see in a comic book film about an anti-hero vigilante seeking vengeance. Hopefully there is more to it than that.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

After exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children, Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than New York’s criminal underworld. Now known throughout the city as The Punisher, he must discover the truth about injustices that affect more than his family alone.

One thing that I am worried about is will the show have legs. Daredevil season 2 and Luke Cage season 1 lost a lot of gas by their midpoint. Some would argue that all of the Marvel Netflix shows suffer from a series exhaustion as 13 episode may be too much. So while there is a pattern, hopefully The Punisher can sustain itself throughout the entire season.

All 13 episodes of The Punisher will be able to be streamed exclusively on Netflix starting November 17, 2017. The series also stars Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Amber Rose Revah, Ben Barnes and Deborah Ann Woll.
