Back in 2010 the writer behind 1408was hired to work on a remake of Pet Sematary. Obviously that didn’t work out.
Now, after another adaptation of a Stephen King story in IT had great success at the box office, Paramount wants to keep things rolling with another crack at Pet Sematary. To make this happen for them, the studio has hired Starry Eyes directors Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer to make the movie.
The latest attempt at the script was penned by Jeff Buhler (The Midnight Meat Train, ABCs of Death 2 segment “J is for Jesus”) and David Kajganich (The Invasion, Blood Creek, Suspiria remake).
In addition to Starry Eyes, Kolsch and Widmyer also directed a segment of the horror anthology Holidays titled “Valentine’s Day” and a few episodes of the Scream TV series.
The duo has also been attached to a sequel to IT director Andy Muschietti’s Mama, as well as the horror movie about the mysterious death of Elisa Lam titled The Bringing.
