Hulu Developing TV Series Based On ‘Hitman’ Games From ‘John Wick’ Writer

The Hitman video game franchise is beloved among gamers. Attempts to adapt the games, which follow the assassin known as Agent 47, have not gone so well.

Now there’s new hopes for fans of the games who dream of seeing a faithful live-action adaptation. But it’s not a movie this time. Hulu and Fox 21 Television Studios are developing a live-action TV series based on the games from Derek Kolstad, the writer behind the John Wick movies.

The first of the previous adaptations was 2007’s Hitman starring Timothy Olyphant as Agent 47. Then came 2015’s Hitman: Agent 47 starring Rupert Friend in the title role. Neither movie was popular with fans of the games, as they turned the story of a cold, calculating, emotionless clone created only to be the perfect killer into an over-the-top action movie. Twice.

Kolstad will be writing a script for the pilot episode to start. He’ll also be an executive producer on the series alongside Adrian Askarieh and Chuck Gordon.

According to the report, the hope is that the games can be adapted into a flagship series for Hulu. We shall see. I for one will certainly have all digits crossed.
