NY Wintercon 2017: Night 1 Of New York Comic and Sci-Fi Expo

Emanating from the 6th floor of Resorts World NYC in Jamaica Queens, NY Wintercon kicked off a weekend of cosplay, collectibles, comics and more. If you are in the NYC area and looking for a great geek out, they convention will feature a Blade Runner reunion, multiple cosplay contests and fun for all members of the family.

Opening night was all about cosplay, specifically Blade Runner. With the Stars of the original 1982 Ridley Scott classic on hands Saturday and Sunday, several cosplay celebrities decked out as the sci-fi epic’s main characters, from Harrison Ford’s Deckard to Rutger Hauer’s Roy Batty. Ladies were dressed as Darryl Hannah’s Pris and Sean Young’s Rachael.

Saturday will feature a Cosplay cabaret at 5:00, and contest at 6:00 while Sunday will belong to the kids with a Costume workshop at 11am and costume showcase at noon. Saturday will feature the Blade Runner reunion featuring Hauer, Young, and several other cast members. Sunday will have a reunion of sci-fi series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.
