‘The Incredibles 2’ Image: The Parrs Go On A World-Saving Family Day
  |  @   |

It’s still very surprising that it has taken us this long to get The Incredibles 2. With Pixar already releasing sequels and prequels to many of their titles, a sequel to The Incredibles is long overdue. But now we are getting one. And the recent teases that have appeared at D23 and the official teaser that dropped during Coco, hints at the Parr family adjusting to their new lives while also trying to figure out how to raise Jack-Jack, whose powers aren’t fully formed.

Now we are getting a better sense of what that family life is like for the Parrs in a brand new image that shows them in full costume — all of them, including Jack-Jack. Check out the new image here below.

Plot details are obviously being kept a secret, but director Brad Bird tells EW that the sequel picks up right where the first film left off. “Incredibles 2 picks up, literally, where the first film left off, with Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl battling The Underminer, while Violet and Dash are stuck with babysitting Jack-Jack,” Bird said. Guess Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl still want to teach their kids how to be a proper superhero if they want to go into the family business. However, it appears that the kids won’t be on the bench for very long, as the director assures us that there will be plenty of “superheroics in store for our “˜family dynamic.'”

But Holly Hunter, who voices Elastigirl, was a little bit more forthcoming with the plot saying that while she is off saving the world from villainy, Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) is at their sleek new home/hideout, and has just discovered that Jack-Jack has new powers. Hunter told EW:

“Helen’s appetite for adventure comes to the fore. Whereas before, she was driven to become Mrs. Incredible out of necessity, where she went into it to save her husband, I think this time she really meets her own ambition head-on. The ambition of being an adventure is something that we get to explore.”

The actress says we will get to see Elastigirl’s story fully-fleshed out as audiences will discover what drives her, “a real incredible sense of competitiveness and ambition.” Something, Hunter says, we haven’t seen much from in female characters.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

Everyone’s favorite family of superheroes is back in “Incredibles 2″ – but this time Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is in the spotlight, leaving Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell) and Dash (voice of Huck Milner) to navigate the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life. It’s a tough transition for everyone, made tougher by the fact that the family is still unaware of baby Jack-Jack’s emerging superpowers. When a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot, the family and Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) must find a way to work together again””which is easier said than done, even when they’re all Incredible.

The Incredibles 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on June 15, 2018.
