Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has released a trailer for Woody Woodpecker, a live-action movie based on the cartoon character of the same name.
Most old favorite cartoon characters have been given or are getting some type of movie adaptation, and a Woody Woodpecker movie has been in the works for quite a while now. Back in 2011 Illumination Entertainment, the animation studio behind the Despicable Me movies, Minions, The Secret Life of Pets, Sing, the upcoming Grinch Who Stole Christmas movie, and more, was set to make a Woody movie. That ultimately didn’t work out, and it eventually became this live-action movie.
Continue below for a synopsis and to check out the trailer.
Unfortunately, if you happen to be a massive Woody Woodpecker fan who was looking forward to a movie like this, don’t get your hopes up too high before watching the trailer below. The movie clearly isn’t a big priority for Universal, who’s not even releasing it in theaters, opting instead for the straight-to-video strategy.
On the bright side of life, that means you won’t have to head out to the movies to see it. You’ll be able to watch in the comfort of your own home when it’s released on February 6, 2018.
On the not so bright side of life, the trailer says it’s being released on DVD and digital, which can be pre-ordered at Amazon now. There’s no mention of Blu-ray and there’s no Blu-ray option listed on Amazon…which is quite odd.
Jumping back to the bright side of life, most of you are likely just here to see how awful the movie looks. To you, enjoy!
wow. How bad does this look. Like a horror movie for kids – complete with an evil demon disguised as bird. Problem is it doesn’t know what demographic it wants, kids?, creepy?, violent? etc
