‘Dundee’ Trailer: Margot Robbie, Russell Crowe, Isla Fisher, Ruby Rose, and More Join Ad Campaign
  |  @   |

For the past two weeks, the Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home trailers have only featured Danny McBride, Chris Hemsworth, and Hugh Jackman. McBride, who plays the title character, is the “estranged son” of the legendary Crocodile Dundee, although he lacks the spirit of the Outback, as seen in his broken Australian accent and inability to remove the water buffalo with his “Outback Powers.” Last week, Jackman “joined” the cast of this otherwise fake film that appears to be nothing more than a Super Bowl ad to promote Australian tourism.

Now a full-length trailer has appeared, showing more from the fake movie. And as you might have expected, it features an all-star Australian cast including Margot Robbie, Russell Crowe, Isla Fisher, Ruby Rose, Luke Hemsworth, and more. Check out the trailer below.

With every new trailer, it’s becoming more obvious that there is no Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home movie. While that may be sad, the whole experience of trying to figure out whether or not this was for real was fun. That being said, if it was real, I’m sure it would be a lot of fun. In addition to the aforementioned actors, singer Jessica Mauboy and cricket legend Luke Bracey also make an appearance.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

Crocodile Dundee is back. Well, actually, he’s missing in the Outback. And the only person who might be able to find him is the loudmouthed American son no-one knew he had. Introducing Danny McBride as Brian Dundee. This son of a legend is forced to channel his Aussie roots as he embarks on the ultimate adventure in the land down under. It’s time to live up to the family name.

Now, withholding plot details to a film isn’t anything new. But the fact is that with all the ads and trailers that have come out so far, we have yet to see anything that resembles a plot apart from the brief synopsis above. Still, they put enough effort into giving the cast of characters some back story.

Even so, the lack of a plot tells us that these are meant to promote Australian tourism. But it was fun while it lasted. But if you are still holding on to the hope that this is real, and I bet some of you are, you might get your answer to it on February 4, Super Bowl Sunday.

  1. Still want this to be real. Wouldn’t be the first time a movie was loaded with A-list cameos. On the other hand, am prepared for this to be a tourism push as many outlets are reporting. Superbowl Sunday feels so far away right now!
