In a surprise drop on February 14th, Stargate Command released the first three episodes of its new MGM digital series, Stargate Origins, to all-access members. The following day, the episodes officially went live for all members. The all-access surprise came a day before the scheduled premiere date.
Stargate Origins is written by Mark Ilvedson and Justin Michael Terry and is directed by Mercedes Bryce Morgan. The new show brings the viewer back to 1939 and follows the adventures of Catherine Langford (Ellie Gall) and her father, Professor Paul Langford (Connor Trinneer), after their mysterious discovery of the Stargate in the Egyptian desert.
Read the synopsis below provided by Stargate Command:
With war looming in Europe and funding running out, these brilliant minds are approaching their lowest ebb. Little do they know, answers are about to present themselves in a dangerous form, when the Nazi Occultist Dr. Wilhelm Brücke approaches their facility with a sinister motive. Enlisting the help of two young soldiers, Catherine and her new allies embark on an adventure into the unknown to rescue her father, and save the Earth from an unimaginable darkness.
Stargate Command will release at least one of the 10 episodes once a week and all-access subscribers may view the episodes until May 15, 2018. Although a digital series, Stargate Origins will be accessible on connected devices through the recently
announced streaming feature, Gate Cast. Although more will be added soon, currently compatible devices include Google Chromecast, LG WebOS TV, Sony Android TV, Sony Blu-Ray Players, Sony Opera TV, and Vizio TV.
A large section of the site is free and provides interactive content like quizzes, polls, photos, and editorial pieces. All-access members pay $20 and can view all of the Stargate shows and films, as well as behind-the-scenes extras from Origins, a weekly director’s diary and more.
Fans from the U.S. can dial the seven chevrons and enter the gate on iOS, Android, and online at stargatecommand.co. Stargate Command is available worldwide through the iTunes Store and Google Play and international all-access is available in the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Australia and New Zealand.
