‘Fahrenheit 451’ Trailer: Michael B. Jordan Burns All Of The Books
  |  @   |

Michael B. Jordan is a bit of a hot head, but not in that kind of way. Having already played characters who could spontaneously combust or just wanted to see traditions being burned, the actor will be taking his pyromania to a more serious film.

In HBO’s Fahrenheit 451, based on the Ray Bradbury novel of the same name, Jordan plays Guy Montag, a fireman who is tasked with burning books and anything resembling a written work. But Montag is beginning to have some serious doubts about the work he is doing and questions his existence. He’ll be joined by Michael Shannon, who plays fire captain Beatty, the leader of the troop that burns the books and the buildings they are held in. A new teaser trailer for the film has been released, and can be found below.

The trailer is brief, only running at a total of a minute and 12 seconds, but you get a sense of the chaos that has enveloped the film’s setting, which also happens to be a dystopian future where the children are told they don’t need to learn anything from books, and that “A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.” It is a future where “news, facts, memoirs, internet of old” are all burned.

Beatty is the fire-obsessed captain who is charged with the burning of books. But is also very knowledgeable about them. So it is a little bit ironic. Beatty even lets out a little foreshadowing.

Jordan is the young Guy Montag, who begins to question the system and reasons of burning these books after witnessing a sequence of events that will forever change his life.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

Fahrenheit 451 is based on Ray Bradbury’s classic novel. In a future where the media is an opiate, history is rewritten and “firemen” burn books, Jordan plays Guy Montag, a young fireman who struggles with his role as law enforcer and with his “mentor”, played by Shannon

Co-written (along with Amir Naderi) and directed by Ramin Bahrani (Chop Shop, 99 Homes), Fahrenheit 451 also stars Sofia Boutella (Star Trek Beyond), Lilly Singh, Laura Harrier (Spider-Man: Homecoming), Martin Donovan (Ant-Man), and more. Expect the TV movie to hit HBO in May of this year.
