Christopher Robin Trailer: Winnie The Pooh Helps Find Your Lost Inner Child
  |  @   |

It’s the year that cute little cuddly bears help us find the one missing piece we have in our lives during these dark and dreary times. Disney has released the first teaser trailer for Christopher Robin, their live-action take on Winnie the Pooh.

But instead of making just another live-action adaptation of their animated classic, the studio will put a timeless/Hook spin on the property by aging the title character. In the film, Robin is weighed down by the responsibilities of being an adult with a family to provide for and a thankless job, leading to him being reunited with his childhood toy. Check out the trailer below.

Now, if you watched the trailer and felt like you were watching a trailer for Hook, then you are not alone. In Hook, Peter Pan returned home after seeing his beloved Wendy grow old. Leaving the world of Neverland behind, Peter eventually became an adult and raised a family of his own. However, when the nefarious Captain Hook kidnaps his children, Peter is forced to return to the home he left behind and find that lost inner child.

In Christopher Robin, we see something similar of the sorts. The eponymous character (Ewan McGregor) has gotten older and now works a thankless job where his boss forces him to sacrifice time with his family and terminate his fellow co-workers. Unable to cope with the stress of the job and not being able to spend time with his family, Pooh Bear, tubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff, comes to his rescue, to the shock of Robin who cannot believe that his childhood toy is speaking to him. “I’ve cracked,” says a stunned Christopher Robin. “I don’t see any cracks, a few wrinkles, maybe,” responds Winnie the Pooh (voiced by the legendary Jim Cummings).

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

In the heartwarming live action adventure, the young boy who embarked on countless adventures in the Hundred Acre Wood with his band of spirited and lovable stuffed animals, has grown up and lost his way. Now it is up to his childhood friends to venture into our world and help Christopher Robin remember the loving and playful boy who is still inside.

The film also stars Hayley Atwell as his wife Evelyn; Bronte Carmichael as his daughter Madeline; and Mark Gatiss as Keith Winslow, Robin’s boss. The film also features the voices of Chris O’Dowd as Tigger; Brad Garrett as Eeyore; Toby Jones as Owl; Nick Mohammed as Piglet; Peter Capaldi as Rabbit; and Sophie Okonedo as Kanga.

Directed by directed by Marc Forster from a screenplay by Alex Ross Perry and Allison Schroeder and a story by Perry based on characters created by A.A. Milne, Christopher Robin opens August 3, 2018.
