‘Luke Cage’ Season 2 Teaser: A Harlem Hero Dares You To Hurt Him
  |  @   |

Netflix has released the first teaser for season two of Luke Cage, which also reveals the release date for the new season.

The show sees the turn of the Harlem hero (Mike Colter) in an all-new story that will most likely test the limits of his strength and durability. Also returning are Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) and Misty Knight (Simone Missick). Check out the teaser and the release date below.

At 26 seconds you might think there is not much to look at, but the teaser puts on an impressive display of Luke Cage’s superhuman strength and durability. The entire thing is shot as though he is openly challenging anyone who thinks they can hurt him to try. With each attack that an assailant might try, we see Luke walk away from it unscathed. Which begs the question, is he letting his invulnerability get to his ego?

“You can’t burn me, you can’t blast me, and you definitely can’t break me,” Luke says into the camera. “Wanna test me? Step up. I’m right here.” So it might be open season on those who think they can hurt Luke, and there is probably someone out there who has figured out one of his weak spots. We’ll just have to wait and see.

And if the big man does fall, he will get right back up with the help of Claire Temple, Misty Knight, and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) the other half of the Heroes For Hire. Let’s just hope they’ve figured out how to handle Iron Fist this time, especially after a dull show and an unmoving Defenders.

If anything, the 26-second set up tells us that things will change for the better. The first half of season one of Luke Cage was fairly interesting, but it then sputtered into a narrative mess with a boring villain killing off the more exciting one early on.

Here is the official synopsis for Luke Cage season 2:

After clearing his name, Luke Cage has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin. But being so visible has only increased his need to protect the community and find the limits of who he can and can’t save. With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.
