Captain America may be one of the Avengers (or former Avengers) who is able to take a beating all day, but what about an entire day plus a few extra hours of a movie marathon?
Having a movie marathon prior to a major film release just comes with the territory for any blockbuster event like Star Wars or any Marvel Studios film. But what will happen before Avengers: Infinity War will defy anything you know about movie marathons in a theater.
That’s because AMC Theaters will be hosting a 31-hour movie marathon of all the Marvel Cinematic Universe films leading up to Infinity War. Do you have the stones to embark on this crazy endeavor? More on the story below.
It’s very important to note that AMC has just made the announcement, they haven’t laid out the logistics for this major event, yet. Considering they have to reserve a theater for 18 movies – that’s 31 hours – it’s going to be quite the undertaking. They also have yet to announce the locations for these films. I imagine not every theater wants to do this. However, I can picture major metropolitan cities like Los Angeles and New York City taking part in this event.
And this is something not for the average moviegoer. Again, this is 31 hours. This will be for the hardcore MCU fan, and the critics/journalists interested in what it would be like to take part in such an exhaustive event. Then, of course, there are the smells. If you thought the San Diego Comic-Con was bad, just imagine what it would be like to sit in a dark room with little to no space, for 31 hours.
This event will draw people, no doubt about it. And it doesn’t happen for just any AMC film. Because Avengers is one of those mega superhero ensembles that draws the heroes of the MCU together to defeat the latest doomsday villain, it tends to draw fans from all the MCU films. Seeing that the entire MCU has made over $5 billion at the box office – and Black Panther is still in theaters – you can bet fans would want to relive all of their MCU experience in one sitting.
Check back in on AMC Theaters to find out when they will announce the list of dates and locations for the MCU Movie Marathon. And you might want to bring some extra deodorant when you confirm your purchase.
