Teaser For ‘Leprechaun Returns’ Released
  |  @   |

For St. Patrick’s Day this past weekend the first teaser was released for Leprechaun Returns, the latest in the long-running Leprechaun horror movie series.

The new movie is set 25 years after the 1993 original, and follows a sorority accidentally bringing the leprechaun back while trying to build a new house. The movie is directed by Astron-6 member Steven Kostanski (The Void, ABCs of Death 2) and written by Suzanne Keilly (Ash vs Evil Dead, Dallas & Robo).

You can read more about Leprechaun Returns and watch the teaser below.

Here’s some info on the latest installment from SYFY Wire:

ABOUT:

The film picks up 25 years after the events of the 1993 original, which found a maniacal leprechaun doing whatever it takes (including committing gruesome murder) to track down his stolen pot of gold. The leprechaun menaced Tory Redding (Jennifer Aniston) until he was finally defeated by shooting a four-leaf clover down his throat. Leprechaun Returns finds the leprechaun revived in the modern day when a group of sorority girls unwittingly awaken him while tearing down a cabin to build a new sorority house. The new sequel is written by Suzanne Keilly (Ash vs Evil Dead) and directed by Steven Kostanski (The Void).

The cast is led by Taylor Spreitler (Kevin Can Wait) as Lila, Pepi Sonuga (Ash vs Evil Dead) as Katie, Sai Bennett (Lake Placid: Legacy) as Rose, and Linden Porco as the leprechaun (replacing longtime star Warwick Davis). The film will also bring back a co-star from the original film in Mark Holton, who will reprise his role as Ozzie, the group’s goofball friend almost killed by the leprechaun all those years ago. Additional co-stars include Emily Reid as Meredith, Oliver Llewellyn-Jenkins as Matt, and Ben McGregor as Andy.

The Leprechaun franchise launched in 1993 as a big-screen horror comedy that turned out to be a surprise hit, which spawned a follow-up, Leprechaun 2 (in 1994). Leprechaun 3 in 1995 went straight to video, then the franchise headed to space for the positively bonkers Leprechaun 4: In Space in 1997. The franchise then got another reboot in 2000 with Leprechaun in the Hood, followed up by Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood in 2003. The series took a break until 2014’s reboot Leprechaun: Origins, and now the series is going back to its roots with Leprechaun Returns.

Leprechaun Returns is coming to SYFY sometime in 2019.
