Star Wars: The Last Jedi is now available on Blu-ray. So you can bring each and every exciting minute of one of the best Star Wars films home.

Of course, there are so many more things to look forward to than just the movie. There are a ton of extras to dive into. A lot of these extras will explain the creative choices we see in the film, as well as some of the narrative ones. Which may help explain why it is one of the most polarizing Star Wars films to date. So check out what bonus features you will be getting plus a mini review of it all below.

In regards to the film, it is, in my opinion, one of the best that the entire franchise has to offer. Director Rian Johnson takes the franchise into a bold new direction, essentially rewriting the news and everything we know about how the world (or galaxy) or Star Wars works. But a lot of these changes also rubbed critics and loyal fans off the hard way. Taking off right where The Force Awakens left off, the Resistance is at their weakest and now forced to abandon their current base. With The First Order, led by Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis), General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson), and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) trying to take advantage of their situation, the fate of the Resistance lies in the hands of Rey (Daisy Ridley), who has been sent on a mission to find the missing Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). Unfortunately, when she does, Luke is a disillusioned Jedi, haunted by his failure to control Ben Solo and his near reckless decision to kill him.

Meanwhile, Poe (Oscar Isaac) reels against Leia’s (Carrie Fisher) orders, and sends Finn (John Boyega) and Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran) on a mission of their own. A mission that could help them outrun the First Order. But it’s a dangerous one that could put The Resistance’s lives at risk and could kill whatever hope of light is left.

There’s no sense in criticizing the film since we already did that in our review. But there are some really juicy bonus features to look forward to aside from the typical commentary and deleted scenes.

One feature that should probably be played first is “The Director and the Jedi.” The 95-minute documentary focuses on the early days of the film’s production. In it, we get to hear from Johnson, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, and others close to the film. There are also portions of the documentary that focus on the impact of the late Carrie Fisher and her lasting significance to the franchise as a whole. Though these may be the last moments that we see her, she still maintains that vulgar charm that we loved about her.

Another option I would get into is the score-only viewing option, where the film is presented to you with nothing but the score, with all dialogue and other miscellaneous sounds have been omitted. It’s quite the experience and has you appreciating the work of John Williams even more.

The deleted scenes will have commentary, which is just Johnson explaining why he had to cut them out. Hint, a lot of it had to do with the pacing. Some of the other scenes though should have been kept in. Like the “raid” on the Ahch-To village. Other scenes should have been chosen over others, like the final battle between Finn and Captain Phasma. But it is interesting to see and hear why these scenes were cut out.

One feature that is really fun to watch is “Andy Serkis Live! (One Night Only).” A feature that dives into the actor’s performance as Supreme Leader Snoke, and the art of motion-capture performance.

So, Star Wars: The Last Jedi would be a welcomed addition for any fan of the geek culture, and an even greater addition to a Star Wars fan’s growing collection.
