‘Ant-Man and The Wasp’ Trailer: It Takes Two To Shrink Down To Size
  |  @   |

Marvel Studios has released the second trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp. The film follows the Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) as he re-assumes the title heroic role. Forced to deal with the consequences of his actions in Captain America: Civil War, Scott struggles to balance his life of being a superhero and a father. He is then confronted by Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) and Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) with an urgent new mission.

But this mission comes with a whole new set of dangers that include a new enemy called the Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen). Check out the latest trailer for the film, below.

Ant-Man and the Wasp will also follow Scott, Hope, and Hank’s journey to rescue Janet Pym (Michelle Pfeiffer) from the microverse. You may even get to see her Wasp, albeit very briefly, in this trailer. Given that the first trailer was just a mere tease, it’s nice to see that we have more details about the plot for the upcoming sequel.

Despite what director Peyton Reed has said about Ant-Man and the Wasp not being a heist film, it looks like there are still heist elements in it. One thing is for sure, the Wasp will play a huge role in this – she looks like she will kick ass and take names. And it looks like the Ghost is after Pym’s tech. Although, it’s not clear why. But it looks like she will be too much for one Ant-Man to handle alone. Hence the partner up thing that we saw at the end of the first trailer.

John-Kamen and Pfeiffer aren’t the only two newcomers to join the Ant-Man franchise. Laurence Fishburne also joins the sequel, where he will play Bill Foster, an old friend of Pym’s who was once his assistant. In the comics, Foster was known as Giant Man – or the second person to take up the eponymous title. His powers include manipulating size and strength and having a high-level genius intellect. So that exchange between the two where they compare sizes at the end of the trailer works.

Obviously, any film following up Avengers: Infinity War is a tall order (sorry for the pun). But maybe going smaller – (apologizes, again) is just the thing the Marvel Cinematic Universe needs. Considering how large and expansive Infinity War is, it’s nice to be a little grounded (these will be the last puns, I swear). Of course, we don’t know what will happen in the Ant-Man and the Wasp after credits scene(s). But something is going to have to motivate these heroes to fight Thanos. We will just have to wait and see what that will be.

Here’s the latest plot synopsis:

From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink: “Ant-Man and The Wasp.” In the aftermath of “Captain America: Civil War,” Scott Lang (Rudd) grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne (Lilly) and Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas) with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside The Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from their past.

Michael Peña, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Tip “T.I.” Harris, and David Dastmalchian all return to reprise their respective roles. They will also be joined by Walton Goggins, Abby Ryder Fortson, and Randall Park. And don’t forget to check out the latest poster for the film, below.

Ant-Man and the Wasp opens in theaters on July 6, 2018.
