James Gunn Reveals Four Other Songs That Could Have Been Used In ‘Avengers: Infinity War’
  |  @   |

The Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy came together, for the first time ever, in Avengers: Infinity War.

And it wouldn’t be much of a Guardians introduction if there wasn’t any classic pop culture music in it. So when we first meet them in Infinity War, they are answering a distress signal while jamming out to The Spinners’ “Rubberband Man.” But it is clear that there are more songs left on that playlist. Now Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has revealed four other songs that were being considered for that one sequence. Check out his selection below.

Gunn took to Twitter to reveal that he talked to Infinity War directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo about what songs to use.

The three that ended up cut were Aerosmith’s “Draw the Line,” The Clash’s “Train in Vain,” and Alice Cooper’s “Caught in a Dream.” But then Gunn added Ace Frehley’s “New York Groove” as a fourth on a Spotify list.

Here’s the tweet:

Considering the vibe in that one sequence, I think “Rubberband Man” was a perfect choice. The gang was chill, laid back, and in such a groovy mood. Even Gamora was lip syncing, something you don’t see very often from someone who runs a tight ship. Not sure how “New York Groove” would have worked out for someone like Quill. He doesn’t have a basic grasp of geography (or is it galactic location?). But there are some funky beats to this, which makes it worthy of play on the Benatar. But the rest of the crew could care less. Drax is sleeping, Rocket is yawning, and Groot is busy playing video games.

Although, I could see Aerosmith’s “Draw The Line” being played as they come to the rescue. It’s got a classic rock feel to it, which would be reminiscent of the Awesome Mixes we’ve heard in the past. The Clash and Alice Cooper were also under consideration.

If anything, these songs have all the makings of an unofficial Awesome Mix. So who knows, maybe, we will get another few songs when Avengers 4 comes around.

Avengers: Infinity War is out in theaters now. Be sure to check out our review and coverage here.
