It’s already been almost one year since Telltale Games finally gave fans what they wanted and announced The Wolf Among Us season two.

At the time, they said we could expect to see the second season sometime this year. Unfortunately that has now changed. Telltale has announced that the new season will now arrive sometime in 2019. Continue below to see what they had to say.

Hey Mundies,

We’re here with some news: The Wolf Among Us 2, based on Bill Willingham’s award-winning Fables comic book series from DC’s Vertigo imprint, will now launch in 2019, rather than the latter half of 2018. This delay comes as the result of a few fundamental changes here at Telltale since we first announced the game last summer.

Most importantly, we’re committed to exploring new ways to tell our stories. Taking this extra time will allow us not only to focus on quality but also to experiment and iterate in order to craft something truly special.

Ultimately our goal is to deliver an experience deserving of the passion you’ve consistently shown for The Wolf Among Us, and these extra months will give us the time we need to do our best work. We’re extremely enthusiastic about how the game is progressing so far, and we can’t wait to dig even deeper.

As is always the case with video games, I don’t mind waiting longer if it means the final product will be more polished. I consider The Wolf Among Us season one to be right up there with Telltale’s 2012 Game of the Year, The Walking Dead season one, if not better. So patience will be no problem.

For those unfamiliar with The Wolf Among Us, it’s based on Bill Willingham’s comic book series Fables (still waiting for you to swoop in and turn that into an incredible new TV series, HBO), which is set in a world where fairy tale creatures walk among humans in New York, living much different lives than the stories they’re known for.
