Quentin Tarantino‘s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will take audiences back to the golden age of hippy Hollywood while also exploring Charles Manson and the murder of Sharon Tate. The director has always had an interesting perspective in telling fictionalized versions of history. So it should be very entertaining to see what kind of story he has to tell here.
Production on the film started today for a 2019 summer release. And though it may be a while before we see anything substantial, photo drops should be enough to hold us over in the long run. The first of these comes from Leonardo DiCaprio, who has released an image of him and co-star Brad Pitt, in attire that befits the ’60s era. Check it out below.
While there may not be much to look at on the surface, the design and fashion will stay true to the 1960s. The two will also play together with DiCaprio playing the role of a Rick Dalton, washed-out actor; and Pitt playing Cliff Booth, Rick’s stunt double. The film will have intersecting storylines with DiCaprio and Pitt’s characters struggling to survive in a Hollywood they no longer recognize. However, their fate will change as their neighbor happens to be Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie).
Dakota Fanning, Luke Perry, Damian Lewis, Emile Hirsch, Clifton Collins, Keith Jefferson, Nicholas Hammond, Burt Reynolds, Timothy Olyphant, Kurt Russell, Michael Madsen, Tim Roth, and Scoot McNairy also star.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood opens on August 9, 2019.
