Disney Dates ‘Indiana Jones 5,’ ‘Maleficent 2,’ Marvel Mystery Movie, More
  |  @   |

Walt Disney Studios’ future continues to look bright, even if they have to reschedule some of their more popular titles. They’ve got their own titles, Pixar, Marvel Studios, and Lucasfilm. It’s hard not to have success with those properties at your disposal.

And now you can expect to see some schedule shifting. Indiana Jones 5 is now moving all the way up to 2021. Not only that but Maleficent 2, Mary Poppins Returns, Jungle Cruise, and a Marvel mystery movie have all gotten release dates as well. To find out all about them, check out the full report below.

THR was the first to report on the news. Here are the new dates.

Disney pushed Indiana Jones 5 back from July 10, 2020, as was reported recently, and is now scheduled for a July 9, 2021 release. By the time the film is released, Harrison Ford will be 79-years-old. Steven Spielberg will return to direct, using a script written by Jon Kasdan. Given Ford’s age, this will likely be the last time that we ever see the actor play the iconic adventuring archeologist. Still no word yet on what the film could be about, but script issues appear to have had been the reason for the later date.

Mary Poppins Returns starring Emily Blunt has got a new date as well. But instead of being delayed Disney has pushed it up from its Christmas Day release this year, one week earlier to December 19, 2018. Getting an earlier release date is not a big thing for films like this. But it does move away from Bumblebee, Aquaman, Alita: Battle Angel, Holmes and Watson, and Welcome To Marwen.

Maleficent 2, which is currently in production, has gotten a release date from Disney as well. It will hit theaters on May 29, 2020. As for that Marvel mystery movie, it’s being pushed to an earlier date from July 30, 2021, to February 12, 2021. Considering how well Black Panther performed around that date earlier this year, it’s easy to see why it may be Black Panther 2. But at the same time, it could very well be something else.

Finally, Jungle Cruise based on the popular Disneyland ride and starring Dwayne Johnson and Blunt, will be released on October 11, 2019.
