‘Anna and The Apocalypse’ Trailer: A Zombie Christmas Musical
  |  @   |

Orion Pictures has released an official trailer for Anna and the Apocalypse, which is described as a “zombie Christmas musical.” Not much else is needed than that. Off to the theater we go!

In the movie a zombie apocalypse breaks out during the Christmas season, forcing high school student Anna (Ella Hunt) and her friends to fight to survive…while also stopping here and there to break out in song and dance, naturally. What? Well how would YOU survive the zombie apocalypse?

In this gleeful mashup, Anna and her friends must fight – and sing – their way through a zombie invasion to reach the supposed safety of their school, not knowing if their parents and friends will still be alive when they get there.

In Anna and the Apocalypse, a zombie apocalypse threatens the sleepy town of Little Haven – at Christmas – forcing Anna and her high school friends to fight, sing and slash their way to survival with a fast-spreading undead horde in relentless pursuit.

Teaming up with her best friend John, Anna and her crew fight their way through zombified snowmen, a ravenous bachelor party and high school hormones to try and save family and faculty alike. But they soon discover that no one is safe in this new world, and the only people they can truly rely on are each other.

Anna and the Apocalypse is produced in association with Parkhouse Pictures and is supported by Creative Scotland.

Also starring in the movie is Malcolm Cumming, Mark Benton, Paul Kaye, and Sarah Swire.

I’m not a huge fan of musicals. I like some well enough, but most just annoy my old man side (“You’re having a serious conversation, stop singing!”). Unless it’s an old Disney movie, something by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, or freakin’ Jim Henson’s Labyrinth (obviously), song breaks in movies just don’t do it for me usually.

I can’t say whether or not that will be the case for this movie as well. But judging by the trailer it looks to be right in that “Goldilocks Zone” of batshit insane ridiculousness I can get excited about, so I look forward to giving it a watch.

Anna and the Apocalypse will be released this holiday season, beginning on November 30th in the UK.
