Teaser Poster For Disney’s Live-Action ‘Aladdin’ Asks You To Make Your Wishes Wisely
  |  @   |

Disney remaking their animated film Aladdin was highly inevitable. The film surely has its fan base like any other. And just like the remakes that came before it, they have been eagerly awaiting to see what the film will look like.

Well, it’s far from a first look at the entire cast, but Disney has released the first teaser poster for the live-action remake of Aladdin. And as you might expect, rubbing on it may make your wishes come true. Check out the teaser poster below.

Again, this is a teaser poster. So as far as any spoilers go, you won’t get any. The film is due out in theaters in May 2019, so there is still a long way to go before we see anything like that. But the poster shows us a tangible lamp with wispy blue smoke coming out of the lips, which hints at the fact that someone has rubbed on it. And the tagline says “Choose Wisely.” So think about your wishes before you make them to the big blue guy.

Speaking of which, that does seem to hint at the fact that Genie (Will Smith) will be blue, much like the character was in the 1993 animated version where the late Robin Williams voiced the character. Smith seems to be the only big name attached to the film. Again, a bit like the animated version where Williams was one of the more recognizable voices in the film.

The poster, which was revealed over at Fandango, is just the start of the film’s marketing campaign. Obviously trailers and image releases are soon to follow. But if one were to start a campaign for a remake like Aladdin, it’s probably best to use something familiar. Like a lamp.

Even Smith got in on the fun by releasing the same poster on his official Instagram account. On it, the caption reads “LEMME OUT!! 🧞 Can’t wait for y’all to see Me BLUE! :-) #aladdin.” An interesting caption that could lead us to believe we could be seeing more very soon.

Directed by Guy Ritchie, who uses a script written by John August, Aladdin stars Mena Massoud as the title street rat who falls in love with the beautiful Jasmine (Naomi Scott) who happens to be the daughter of the sultan. With the help of the all-powerful wish granting Genie (Smith), Aladdin hatches a plan to get married to Jasmine. But the evil Jafar (Marwan Kenzari) will stop at nothing to obtain the lamp and use its power to rule over Agrabah. The film also stars Billy Magnussen and Nasim Pedrad. The film is based on the Middle Eastern folk tale “One Thousand and One Nights.”

Disney will release Aladdin in theaters on May 24, 2019.
