Jamie Lee Curtis Joins Rian Johnson’s ‘Knives Out’

Rian Johnson‘s latest featureKnives Out will be his follow-up directorial effort after Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Daniel Craig was one of the first to join the film, which is being described as a mystery thriller. That was followed up with Chris Evans, Lakeith Stanfield, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, and Ana de Armas joining the cast.
Now you can add another actress to the cast. And this one has had a few run-ins with knife-wielding people herself. New reports say Jamie Lee Curtis has joined the cast. More on the report below.
Variety says details on Curtis’s character are being kept under wraps for now. However, she joins quite a diverse cast in this film that will have Rian Johnson attempting to create a new Poirot with Craig. According to previous reports, Johnson has been a fan of Agatha Christie since he was a teenager, and has been developing his own vision for a “locked door mansion murder mystery.”
The timing of all of this couldn’t be more perfect as the production delays for Bond 25 opened the door for Craig to board Knives Out. This film will presumably be his last before he jumps head first into his own Star Wars trilogy. Johnson will also write Knives Out and produce alongside his frequent collaborator Ram Bergman.
Curtis can currently be seen in the slasher hit Halloween – read our review here. The film, which is a sequel and a reboot all rolled into one, brings back the actress as Laurie Strode, one of the survivors of Michael Myers’ murderous streak that took place on Halloween night. It grossed over $77 million in its opening weekend. The actress has taken a bit of a step back from the film industry as of late. But she has also appeared in numerous TV shows like Scream Queens.
There’s no doubt that she deserves all the high praise from her performance as a psychologically scarred Strode. Now it will be interesting to see how she fares in a mystery thriller.
No release date is set for Knives Out. However, the film is expected to begin production sometime this November. We’ll keep you posted should any new developments come in.
