Pedro Pascal To Lead Disney+ ‘Star Wars’ Series ‘The Mandalorian’
  |  @   |

He may have been Tyrion Lannister’s champion on Game of Thrones, but Pedro Pascal will be a different kind of champion for Star Wars fans.

A new report confirms that the actor will be the one to lead The Mandalorian, the Star Wars series that’s coming to Disney’s streaming service Disney+, which launches later next year. The full report, below.

Variety was the first to confirm the news today. Up until now, there had been no confirmed cast members for The Mandalorian. We did know the list of directors including Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Deborah Chow. But now we know Pascal will be the one to don the helmet with the T-shaped face. He will be “a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.” The actor was rumored to be one of the frontrunners to lead the show.

Jon Favreau penned the series and will act as executive producer.

We also know that the show will take place years after Return of the Jedi and before The Force Awakens. However, whether or not his story will have an effect on the Star Wars saga that we know now, that remains to be unclear.

Pascal has had quite the career since we saw him as the Red Viper on Game of Thrones. Since then he has appeared alongside Matt Damon in The Great Wall, starred in Netflix’s hit drug cartel drama Narcos, and played a cowboy spy in Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

The news comes after the announcement that Disney+ would have a second Star Wars show starring Diego Luna, who is reprising his role as Cassian Andor from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Of course, we will keep you up to date on any other developments as soon as they come in.
