Video: Watch A Full-Length ‘Shrek’ Remake Using Mix Of Animation and Live-Action Styles
  |  @   |

For anyone who hasn’t seen it yet, a full-length remake of the 2001 animated hit Shrek titled Shrek Retold made its way online last week. And somehow has not been taken down yet.

This is likely due to the fact that it’s an extremely bizarre remake. It was made by over 200 people. They broke the movie down into short segments, and each of those segments was remade using a variety of different animation and live-action styles. The result is an acid trip version of Shrek. Think of some of the stranger shit you’ve seen on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim at four in the morning, and you have a pretty good idea of what you’re about to see.

You can give Shrek Retold a watch below.

The video was uploaded by 3GI Industries, which is described on their very ’90s-style website as “Milwaukee-based Comedians, Enlightainers, and Shrekfest Perpetrators.”

Shrekfest is their annual celebration of the original movie, which sounds like a bucket list destination for any Shrek fan. It’s held Labor Day weekend in Wisconsin, and is open to all ages. It’s free to attend, and includes games, food and drinks, live music, and of course, a screening of the movie.

Here’s their description of the event:

Shrekfest is the ultimate experience for Shrek-heads of all ages, currently gearing up for it’s fifth year! Free admission, live music, and an outdoor screening of the 2001 masterpiece. Not to mention the games and prizes, highlighted by our infamous onion eating contest. So come dressed as your favorite Fairy Tale creature, bring a fold-out chair and we’ll see you at the swamp!

You can learn more about Shrekfest over at its official website, which has its own old school design complete with a ’90s-style website version of Smash Mouth’s “All Star” automatically playing when you go there.

You can also find a promo video for this year’s Shrekfest below if interested.

In related news, we found out just last month that reboots were in the works for both Shrek and spinoff Puss in Boots.

We got over 200 people to remake Shrek. This is it.
