Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse included a joke about how the title character’s enormous popularity expanded to cereals, a decent Popsicle, and of course, a Christmas album. Those who stuck around for the end credits got to hear a sample of one Webslinger (Chris Pine) from one universe sing “Spidey-Bells,” which is a play on the popular Christmas song “Jingle Bells.” But that song wasn’t included in the soundtrack or released digitally, as it would have conflicted with the themes of the actual score. But for those who were hoping to be able to get the Christmas songs, Sony Pictures Animation has heard your prayers. A Christmas EP has been released digitally and is available now.
Listen to a few of the tracks that will appear on A Very Spidey Christmas Album here below.
Per Film Music Reporter, these are the tracks that will appear on the album:
1. Joy to the World – Shameik Moore (1:40)
2. Spidey-Bells (A Hero’s Lament) – Chris Pine (2:41)
3. Deck the Halls – Jake Johnson (2:05)
4. Up on the House Top – Chris Pine (1:45)
5. The Night Before Christmas 1967 (Spoken Word) – Jorma Taccone (2:45)
That’s right, Shameik Moore, who voices Miles Morales, and Jake Johnson, who voices a Peter Parker from a different universe, will sing Christmas songs of their own. Not only that, but Jorma Taccone will read The Night Before Christmas. Sounds like a must-have album for any person who loves to celebrate Christmas or is just a general fan of Spider-Man. Or maybe both.
Here’s the official film plot synopsis:
Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the creative minds behind The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street, bring their unique talents to a fresh vision of a different Spider-Man Universe, with a groundbreaking visual style that’s the first of its kind. “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” introduces Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, and the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse, where more than one can wear the mask.
As great as that album is, I’m a bit disappointed it did not include Oscar Isaac singing Baby, It’s Cold Outside.
Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is out in theaters everywhere now.
