Spider-Man: Far From Home

“What I did for summer vacation” reports are usually generic recaps of what kids did during their time off. So why not take that concept and make a superhero blockbuster. That’s what Marvel Studios is doing for Spider-Man: Far From Home, the follow-up to Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, which Marvel released a teaser trailer for today.

Tom Holland returns to play Peter Parker, otherwise known as your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Except, he’s not going to be swinging around Queens. He will be going crossing the Atlantic where he will be facing off against elemental villains with the help of Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and a new ally named Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal). Check out the trailer along with a poster below.

It appears that there are a few secrets that Marvel has for us because there is no plot synopsis provided with the video. But the basics are provided in the trailer.

As for the sequel itself, Spider-Man’s summer vacation in Europe takes one crazy turn as Nick Fury needs Spider-Man’s help for something. It appears strange elemental creatures have caused chaos and mayhem, and Fury will have to rely on Spidey to bring them down. But they are too much. And who is there to save him? Well, it’s Mysterio, who stops them with ease.

Now, this is just one crazy theory. But Mysterio is a Spider-Man villain with a background in Hollywood special effects. What if, and this is just a crazy theory, he is the one behind the Elementals. It would be a fun way to introduce Sand Man, Hydro Man, Molten Man, and Electro in one fell swoop. We’ll just have to wait and see if it’s true. And let’s not forget that Michael Keaton also returns as The Vulture.

The film also stars Jon Favreau, Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Cobie Smulders, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Angourie Rice, Hemky Madera, Numan Acar, and Remy Hii.

Directed by Jon Watts, who uses a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: Far From Home hits theaters on July 5, 2019.
