The Warner Bros. and Christopher Nolan collaboration has been going strong. Even beyond the Dark Knight trilogy, the pairing has delivered one hit after another. And now, the two are ready to release another film.
Unfortunately, we know next to nothing about it. Other than it’s been scheduled for a summer release, Nolan’s untitled film doesn’t have a cast or plot. However, we probably can expect that to change in the coming months. More on the report, below.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nolan’s next film is being described as an event film. And that’s all any of us have to work with. At least for now. Obviously, many of us would like to know more about it, including who is going to be in it. Will it be another deep dive into a superhero film? Will it be something original? Or will his be another history piece? Your guess is as good as ours.
But it comes as no surprise that very little is known about it, given the fact that the filmmaker has a penchant for being very secretive about his directorial efforts. It has, however, worked in his favor. Inception grossed over $825 million, while Dunkirk went on to win three Academy Awards. So it really doesn’t matter, because Nolan has a tendency to make good films. Even Interstellar was a box office hit.
As for the cast, Nolan does have a bit of a tendency to have actors who frequent his films, like Michael Caine or Cillian Murphy. We have no idea if he will ask one or both to be a part of the project, but one thing is for sure, if he does cast you there is a very good reason for it.
As for the summer release, well, it’s something we should be all familiar with from a Nolan film. The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Inception, and Dunkirk all saw releases in July. And all were met with varying degrees of success.
We all knew that it was only a matter of time before Nolan would be back with a new film. So it will be interesting to see what it is and who will be a part of that. For now, the untitled Christopher Nolan film will open in theaters on July 17, 2020.
