Edie Falco Joins ‘Avatar’ Sequels As Mysterious Human Character
  |  @   |

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about the Avatar sequels. What was once something that was gestating has now completed production.

While we know that Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephan Lang are all set to return and reprise their respective roles, Edie Falco will be joining the film as a mysterious new character who has ties to a rather shady group with possibly nefarious intentions for Pandora. More on the report below.

The official Avatar Twitter account confirmed of the latest casting:

Though they could not get into any real specifics, the tweet did come with a caption that reads:

We are thrilled to share that Edie Falco is joining the #AvatarFamily as General Ardmore, the Commander in charge of the RDA’s interests in the Avatar Sequels!

So who is RDA and what sort of interests do they have?

Well, /Film took to Avatar‘s Wiki page, where they discovered that:

The Resources Development Administration, or RDA, is the largest single non-governmental organization in human space. Its power is such that it outmatches most of Earth governments in wealth, political influence, and military capability. The RDA has monopoly rights to all products shipped, derived, or developed from Pandora and any other off-Earth location. These rights were granted to the RDA in perpetuity by the Interplanetary Commerce Administration (ICA), with the stipulation that they abide by a treaty that prohibits weapons of mass destruction and limits military power in space.

It is safe to assume that the General will probably be the villain in the Avatar sequel or sequels. Considering that they are bringing back Lang somehow, I wouldn’t be surprised if characters who died in the original came back to life. However, we still don’t know much if anything about these sequels. There are rumored titles that may hint at an elemental theme to each of the upcoming sequels. But there’s no confirmation to any of that either.

Honestly, as popular as Avatar was and how cool the world is at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, I just don’t see the appeal of it. Not anymore at least. Sure the film was a technological marvel that pushed the boundaries on visual effects and gave us that 3D movie trend. But a lot of things have changed since then. People aren’t as interested in 3D movies anymore.

Furthermore, it’s been so long since the first Avatar was released. I’m sure there are some fans who have been patiently waiting for these sequels to come out, but looking at what is out now, it’s hard to believe there is a bit of interest among the masses. Hopefully, I am wrong.
