Trailer Released For Netflix’s Motley Crue Biopic ‘The Dirt’

Yesterday, we got a sneak peek at the trailer for Netflix’s upcoming original movie, The Dirt, a biopic about the heavy metal band Motley Crue, based on their 2001 best-selling autobiography, The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band.

Now, the full trailer has been released and you can watch it here below!

As you can tell from the trailer, the movie will explore the sex, drugs, and rock and roll lifestyle of the famous 1980s band, featuring lead singer Vince Neil, bassist Nikki Sixx, lead guitarist Mick Mars, and drummer Tommy Lee. We’ll see their origins as an up-and-coming band on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, CA, in 1981, through their rise to fame as one of the biggest musical groups of the 1980s. Their albums went multi-platinum and yielded hits and popular music videos for songs like “Looks That Kill,” “Home Sweet Home,” “Kickstart My Heart,” and their cover of Brownsville Station’s “Smokin’ In The Boys Room.” But with their live of success and excess came plenty of heartache, destruction, and death.

The trailer spotlights the band’s career and personal lives, including Tommy Lee’s marriage to actress Heather Locklear (I still have the newspaper clipping of their wedding photo!); Vince Neil’s daughter’s illness; Nikki Sixx’s overdose; and Mick Mars degenerative disease. And of course, their wild antics on the road on and off stage. The filmmakers have managed to capture the look of the band, their concerts, and surroundings. If you’re a fan of the Crue, then you know the insanity you’re going to be shown in this movie.

The Dirt, directed by Jeff Tremaine with a screenplay by Rich Wilkes, stars Daniel Webber as Vince Neil, Douglas Booth as Nikki Sixx, Machine Gun Kelly as Tommy Lee, and Iwan Rheon as Mick Mars.

After officially retiring in 2014, Motley Crue reunited to record 4 new songs for the movie.

The Dirt will be released on Netflix on March 22, 2019.
