‘Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil’ Gets A Teaser Poster and New Release Date
  |  @   |

It’s been a while since we’ve seen any news from Maleficent 2, the sequel to the very popular reimagining of Sleeping Beauty. Starring Angelina Jolie, the film pictured the title character as a protagonist who was wronged by a scheming king who took her wings away thereby taking her powers away. She would eventually get them back, and like most fairy tale endings, they all lived happily ever after.

But there was no way that a huge success like that wouldn’t be followed up with a sequel. And that’s what we are getting. The sequel has a brand new title and now will go by Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. Not only that, but there is a new release date and a teaser poster. Check them all out below.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

A fantasy adventure that picks up several years after “Maleficent,” in which audiences learned of the events that hardened the heart of Disney’s most notorious villain and drove her to curse a baby Princess Aurora, “Maleficent II” continues to explore the complex relationship between the horned fairy and the soon to be Queen, as they form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures that reside within.

From what we know so far Jolie returns to reprise her role as the title character, and Elle Fanning also returns to reprise her role as Aurora.

Michelle Pfeiffer, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Ed Skrein, Robert Lindsay, and Harris Dickinson also join the cast. Dickinson replaces Brenton Thwaites, who played Prince Charming in the original live-action telling.

As for the poster itself, it is pretty much similar to the first teaser poster from the first film. A shot of a side of Maleficent’s face, horns, and wings against a black background. The mystery and darkness surrounding it really emphasizes the evil vibes. Is there a reason why she has this title? What happened to her good side? These are just a few questions fans of the original will be asking.

Directed by Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales), who uses a script written by Linda Woolverton and Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil opens in theaters on October 18, 2019.
