Watch Now: First Trailer For ‘Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark’ Movie

A teaser trailer for Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, produced by Guillermo del Toro (The Shape of Water, Pan’s Labyrinth) and directed by André Øvredal (Trollhunter, The Autopsy of Jane Doe), has been released online.

The movie is based on the ’80s and ’90s book series of the same name written by Alvin Schwartz, with artist Stephen Gammell creating nightmare inducing illustrations to accompany his words.

SYNOPSIS:

It’s l968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind…but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time””stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah’s terrifying tome.

Starring in the adaptation is Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Austin Abrams, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, Lorraine Toussaint, Austin Zajur, and Natalie Ganzhorn.

The screenplay was written by Dan Hageman and Kevin Hageman, from a screen story by Patrick Melton, Marcus Dunstan, and del Toro.

Sean Daniel, Jason F. Brown, J. Miles Dale, Elizabeth Grave, and del Toro produce.
